Hello, I'm Fay Hancock MAAT, founder of Draig Accountancy.

Based in Penygroes, Carmarthenshire, I provide friendly, professional accountancy and tax services to sole traders, landlords, limited companies and small businesses across Wales and throughout the UK.

I believe good accountancy is about more than preparing accounts and submitting tax returns. It's about helping people understand their finances, make informed decisions and feel confident that everything is under control.

What makes my approach different is that my accountancy knowledge is built on real business experience as well as professional qualifications.

A Background in Business

Business has always been part of my life.

Growing up on an organic family farm in Carmarthenshire gave me an early understanding of the hard work, organisation and resilience needed to run a successful business. From a young age, I saw first-hand the challenges of balancing day-to-day operations, finances and long-term planning, and learned the value of building strong relationships based on trust and reliability.

Over the past 20 years, I have worked across a variety of industries and business environments, developing experience in operations, compliance, administration, quality management and business support. I have experienced business from many perspectives – as a sole trader, within partnerships, working in limited companies and as a company director myself.

Alongside Draig Accountancy, I co-run Draig Ecology with my husband, a 5* B&B and a parttner in an Organic farm. Being involved in both the operational and financial side of a growing businesses means I understand many of the challenges my clients face because I face them too. I know the realities of managing cash flow, meeting deadlines, juggling responsibilities and making important decisions while trying to grow a successful business.

Because of this, I understand that accountancy isn't just about numbers. It's about giving business owners the confidence and support they need to focus on what they do best.

Professional Qualifications

I am a qualified member of the Association of Accounting Technicians (AAT) and am currently progressing towards Chartered Tax Adviser status with the Chartered Institute of Taxation (CIOT).

I am committed to ongoing professional development, ensuring clients benefit from both practical business experience and up-to-date technical knowledge in an ever-changing tax and regulatory environment.

Outside of accountancy, I am actively involved in my local community and enjoy supporting local initiatives and fundraising activities. As a school governor, volunteer and mum of two, I understand how busy life can be and the importance of having reliable people around you that you can trust.

These experiences have shaped how I work with clients. I believe in building long-term relationships, being approachable, communicating clearly and providing support that genuinely makes life easier.

My goal is simple: to be the accountant I would want for my own business — knowledgeable, approachable, dependable and genuinely invested in helping clients succeed.
